Fuel System General Labourer

Reporting to the Directing Installer or their delegate, you will be responsible for providing installation support during all phases of construction.

You will provide a broad range of support in areas such as loading and unloading materials, site preparation and clean up, manual construction and basic equipment operation.

You will be led by, and learn from, our Directing Installer in all facets of retail fuel installation – from excavating trenches, to installing pipework and working with fuel dispensing systems.

General Labour

  • Load, unload and move construction materials around the worksite.

  • Support the Directing Installer to carry out installation works of underground petroleum storage systems including tanks, pipework and associated equipment.

  • Ensure worksite is organised and free of clutter, rubble and garbage.

  • Other General labour and construction duties include: warehouse organising, equipment and site preparation, liaising with contractors and supporting them where necessary, site housekeeping, transportation of tools and equipment.

 Safety

  • Adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.

  • Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.

  • Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.

Working Conditions

  • Out of area travel may be required.

  • Overtime as required.

  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and fumes (PPE will be provided).

  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 15kg on a regular basis.

  • Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.

You will have:

  • A positive work attitude, eagerness to help and learn and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Civil construction labouring experience is a MUST

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role

  • Construction and mechanical knowledge and skills

  • Experience using construction equipment, power and hand tools

  • Communication skills with site supervisors, customers and contractors

  • Practical problem solving and diagnostic skills

  • A focus on quality workmanship and efficiency

  • A commitment to WHS and a valid Construction Induction Card (White Card)

  • Unrestricted Medium Rigid driver’s licence

  • Previous experience and skills working in retail fuel installation, plumbing, boiler making, or gas fitting would be an advantage.

  • Qualifications/licences in demolition and/or unrestricted electrical work would be an advantage

 

Employment will commence as a casual contract (30 hours+ per week) with the intention of becoming full time for the right candidate.

Remuneration based on experience and qualifications ($30.00 - $35.00 per hour with overtime expected).
